About PDCs and Recertification

All certifications (SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP) are valid for three years. Recertification is required every three years through demonstrated professional development (preferred method) or retaking the exam. 

Time Frame: 3-year recertification period. The recertification period begins the date that a candidate takes and passes the exam. The recertification period ends on the last day of a credential holder’s birth month, at least 3 years from the date the candidate becomes certified. During the first recertification period, some credential holders may have a slightly longer period 

Required Number of Credits: 60 professional development credits (PDC) 

Qualifying Recertification Activities: All activities must be related to human resource topic areas or related competencies consistent with the areas outlined in the SHRM Body of Applied Skills and Knowledge (SHRM BASK).

Everyone involved in projects can benefit from strengthening their ability to effectively communicate. This course provides a basic understanding of the fundamentals of effective communication and reviews how communication can help lead to project success. Topics covered include active listening, audience identification, purpose definition, and effective delivery. Through instruction, hands-on exercises, and class discussions, these skills will be strengthened for the project environment. 5 PDCs.

Change is an integral part of every project—whether it arises during project execution, affecting team members and stakeholders, or as a result of project outcomes, requiring individuals and organizations to adapt to new systems, processes, or technologies. This course provides project managers with the tools and strategies needed to successfully navigate both dimensions of change. Participants will learn how to lead teams through internal project shifts, manage stakeholder expectations, reduce resistance, and foster collaboration throughout the project lifecycle. Additionally, the course focuses on preparing stakeholders for the organizational and behavioral changes that project deliverables create, ensuring smoother transitions, greater acceptance of outcomes, and long-term adoption of project benefits. 5 PDCs.

Conflict is a natural occurrence when people work on teams. However, conflict can negatively impact project success. This course prepares the project management professional to understand and manage conflict on project teams. You will gain an understanding of the strategies and skills that result in resolution as well as prevention methods. 5 PDCs.

Human resource issues impact every company in some way. That’s why it’s important to understand the fundamental issues surrounding HR today. This course provides an introductory overview of the human resource function. Whether you are new to HR or if HR is one of many roles you fulfill at your company, this course covers the key HR topics you need to know: human resource management, employment law, recruitment and selection, compensation and benefits, employee development, and performance management. *This course is also eligible for 18 PDCs*
