Dr. Elizabeth Kirby
Dr. Elizabeth Kirby brings over 15 years of experience in student affairs, specializing
in academic advising, program and curriculum development, and evaluation, with a deep
commitment to student empowerment. Dr. Kirby has a proven track record of designing
and leading innovative programs that improve student success and retention. She excels
at creating inclusive, dynamic learning environments and implementing strategic initiatives
that align with institutional goals while addressing the evolving needs of students.
Dr. Kirby has served in several key roles, including as Department Chair of Counseling
and Advising at Montgomery College, Rockville Campus, where she led strategic initiatives,
managed personnel, and fostered cross-functional collaboration to enhance student
success. She has also worked as an associate professor and counselor, providing academic
guidance, crisis intervention, and leadership for retention, completion, and transfer
initiatives. Additionally, Dr. Kirby’s experience in counseling at both Frederick
Community College and Stephens College has honed her expertise in advising and leading
teams to improve student outcomes.
Dr. Kirby earned her bachelor of arts in Communication with a minor in Coaching from
Pittsburg State University, her master of education in Counseling from Stephens College,
and her doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of the Cumberlands.
