Suzette Spencer

Suzette Spencer serves as the Associate Vice President for Library and Academic Services at Montgomery College, bringing more than 25 years of professional experience elevating and leading in academic support services. She shapes the vision, strategic priorities, and operational direction for Montgomery College’s Libraries, Assessment and Testing Centers, Learning Centers, and the Achieving the Promise Academy (ATPA) Academic Coaching Program.
Ms. Spencer has led significant initiatives to strengthen library services, align effective partnerships across academic services, and enhance the user experience. She co-led a two-year project, in collaboration with the Library Implementation Team, to migrate the library services platform to a modern, cloud-based system, an effort that also eliminated fines on the open-shelf physical collection.
Ms. Spencer led a two-year renovation and reopening of the Takoma Park–Silver Spring Library, guided by a commitment to creating welcoming, contemporary spaces that evolve alongside the needs of students, the College, and the local community. Building on this same commitment, first realized through the integrated library and learning commons facility at the East County Education Center, she went on to lead the concept design and renovation of the Rockville Library, the largest of the library facilities.
Ms. Spencer's commitment to the student experience and to fostering college-wide partnerships is evident in her support of the Student Parent Initiative, which has provided dedicated study spaces for student parents as well as students taking both in-person and online courses. As Acting Campus Dean of the Takoma Park–Silver Spring Campus, she helped to advance several institutional strategic priorities, while representing the campus at external community events and being involved in community and campus engagement activities. Together, these efforts strengthened the campus's ties to students, elected officials, and the broader Silver Spring business community.
Ms. Spencer earned her B.S. in Human Resources Management and Finance from Temple University and her M.L.S. in Information and Library Science from Pratt Institute. She has been recognized as an inaugural recipient of the Doug Gray Leadership Award by the MarylandOnline Leadership Institute and the Montgomery College Administrator Leadership Award – Excellence in Serving Students.
