Montgomery College is looking for energetic, enthusiastic performers to step into the role of Monty the Raptor! As one of the most visible ambassadors for MC, Monty brings energy, school spirit, and Raptor pride to athletic events, College celebrations, community events, social media, and more.

What You'll Do

• Bring Monty to life at College events, athletic events, community appearances, photo opportunities, and other activities.
• Engage students, employees, families, alumni, and community members through energetic, friendly, nonverbal interaction.
• Participate in social media content, videos, promotional campaigns, and photo shoots.
• Stay in character throughout every appearance and help create memorable experiences for audiences of all ages.
• Represent Montgomery College and the Raptor brand with enthusiasm and professionalism.
• Follow all mascot safety, costume-care, and performance guidelines.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to bring the Raptor spirit!

What We're Looking For

• At least 18 years of age.
• Able to meet the costume fit requirements established for Monty.
• Able to safely perform the physical requirements of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Comfortable standing, walking, dancing, bending, waving, and moving continuously while in costume.
• Able to wear a full-body mascot costume for up to 30 minutes at a time with scheduled breaks.
• Energetic, outgoing, dependable, and comfortable performing in front of crowds.
• Strong nonverbal communication skills and expressive body language.
• Available for scheduled appearances that may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Reliable transportation to scheduled event locations.

What to Expect at Your Monty Audition

Selected candidates will be invited to an in-costume audition where we'll look for creativity, movement, spatial awareness, nonverbal communication, and - most importantly - personality.

Monty doesn't speak, so your movement becomes his voice. Think big gestures, expressive reactions, and lots of Raptor energy!

No mascot experience required. Training will be provided.

Schedule & Pay

• Part-time, flexible hours based on the mascot appearance calendar.
• Typical assignments may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Pay: $50.00 per hour.
• Work location: In person at Montgomery College and approved community locations.

Montgomery College is looking for confident, dependable individuals to serve as Mascot Handlers and help bring Monty the Raptor to life. The Mascot Handler is Monty's behind-the-scenes partner - helping the performer navigate appearances safely, stay on schedule, interact with audiences, and create memorable moments filled with Raptor pride.

Because Monty doesn't speak, the Handler also helps serve as Monty's voice when needed, communicating with event organizers, students, employees, families, alumni, and community members while protecting the character and the experience.

What You'll Do

• Accompany Monty to College events, athletic events, community appearances, photo opportunities, and other approved activities.
• Help the Mascot Performer safely navigate crowds, stairs, doorways, uneven surfaces, restricted sightlines, and other surroundings.
• Serve as Monty's voice when needed by communicating with event organizers and audience members while allowing Monty to remain in character.
• Help manage the appearance schedule, timing, breaks, entrances, exits, props, cues, and other logistics.
• Support fun, positive interactions with students, employees, families, alumni, and community members.
• Help monitor crowd activity and create appropriate space around Monty during appearances.
• Assist the performer with costume preparation, costume changes, hydration, breaks, and proper costume care.
• Participate in social media content, videos, promotional campaigns, and photo shoots as needed.
• Represent Montgomery College and the Raptor brand with enthusiasm, good judgment, and professionalism.
• Follow all mascot safety, emergency response, costume-care, and performance guidelines.
• Arrive on time, prepared, and ready to bring the Raptor spirit!

What We're Looking For

• At least 18 years of age.
• Energetic, friendly, dependable, observant, and comfortable interacting with a wide range of audiences.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good judgment and the ability to stay calm, attentive, and safety-focused in busy environments.
• Able to anticipate the Mascot Performer's needs and interpret nonverbal cues.
• Comfortable helping manage schedules, event logistics, crowd flow, and communication with event staff.
• Able to safely perform the physical requirements of the Mascot Handler role, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Available for scheduled appearances that may include weekdays, evenings, weekends, and occasional holidays.
• Reliable transportation to scheduled event locations.
• Multilingual communication skills are a plus, but are not required.

What to Expect at Your Monty Handler Audition

Selected candidates will be invited to a practical audition where we'll look at communication, situational awareness, crowd interaction, teamwork, problem-solving, and your ability to anticipate and respond to the Mascot Performer's nonverbal cues.
Monty doesn't speak, so a great Handler knows when to step in, when to step back, and how to help Monty's personality shine while keeping the performer and audience safe.

No mascot handling experience required. Training will be provided.

• Work location: In person at Montgomery College campuses and approved community locations.
